Kids ready for grand adventure at Kings Island

Tuesday is shaping up to be a typical day at Kings Island, filled with lots of happy children.

Park visitors might notice that some of the kids will be in wheelchairs. Some will be hooked up to oxygen, or connected to IVs. But they’ll be having fun and enjoying their day at Kings Island, just like everybody else because that day, they are just like everyone else.

A Kid Again, a non-profit group which is dedicated to providing fun-filled outings and ongoing support to children with life threatening illnesses and their families, will have its annual outing at Kings Island Tuesday. A Kid Again children and their family will enjoy park admission, a picnic, ice cream and the opportunity to meet and have photos taken with some of their favorite cartoon pals. They’ll cap off a memorable day at the park with a spectacular fireworks show over the Eiffel Tower at 10:00pm.

More than 3,600 A Kid Again children and family members from Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton are expected to attend the outing, making it the organization’s largest event of the year.

Earlier this year, Kings Island raised more than $102,000 for A Kid Again through an auction to be among the first official riders on the park’s new Diamondback roller coaster. To date, the Diamondback auction is the largest single fundraiser in the organization’s Cincinnati Chapter’s 14-year history.
